Mithali Raj shuts up Twitter troll, says 'I am very proud Indian'
Mithali Raj, the Indian women’s cricket team captain for ODIs, slammed a troll who, in an apparent remark on her Tamil identity, said she doesn't know Tamil.

Mithali Raj, the Indian women’s cricket team captain for One Day Internationals (ODIs), slammed a troll who, in an apparent remark on her Tamil identity, said she does not know Tamil. Mithali Raj was replying to Sachin Tendulkar, one of the greats of the game, where he had congratulated her and the women’s team for 3-0 series win over South Africa.

Mithali Raj replies in Tamil
“She doesn't know Tamil. She will speak in eng, Telugu, Hindi,” wrote a Twitter troll when Raj thanked Tendulkar in English. In a takedown to the troll, Raj wrote in Tamil saying Tamil is her mother tongue and she speaks the language pretty well. She further added that above all she is a “very proud Indian”.

20 years of excellence
Mithali Raj not only completed 20 years of excellence in Indian cricket but also completed her 100th win as captain. Tendulkar had applauded Raj for leading the team with distinction and completing 20 years in international cricket. Raj has played 206 ODIs with a stupendous average of 51.2 and 89 T20 Internationals with an average of 37.5, which is remarkably high in the shortest format of the game.

Impressive debut in 1999
Mithali Raj, born in a Tamil family in 1982, started playing cricket at the age of 10 and made her ODI debut in 1999 against Ireland where he scored an unbeaten 114. Since then, she has registered several records to her name. She received Arjuna Award in 2003 and Padma Shri, India’s fourth-highest civilian award, in 2015. She is currently India’s all-time leading run-scorer across formats.
