Mohammed Shami, Wriddhiman Saha look forward to pink ball Test

Team India is all set to play their maiden Day/Night Test at Eden Gardens when they host Bangladesh in the two-match Test series. While most of the players in the side have not played pink ball cricket, to players wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha and pacer Mohammad Shami already have the experience of playing in Day/Night Test.

The two Bengal players were a part of an experimental pink ball match in 2016, due to which their inputs will be vital as India when they prepare for the historic encounter at the Eden from November 22.

The CAB Super League final – between Mohun Bagan and Bhowanipore – was played with a pink ball in 2016. While Shami had five-wicket haul with the pink ball Wriddhiman Saha, however, had fallen for a golden duck.

Speaking to a leading news portal, Shami said that he would prefer the pink ball any day. He also said that the best thing is you get to bowl only one session under the sun. Then the ball starts talking once the lights are on.

Speaking about the pink ball, the pacer further added said that he got reverse swing in the first innings and if the condition is dry, the ball will reverse. The seam usually does not remain intact after 40 overs but it’s not the case with the pink ball.

Wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha said that playing with Pink ball will be a new challenge for the team. Speaking to a leading news channel he said that the challenge is there in every sport and the more you are challenged as a team, you get better.

The Cricket Association of Bengal is trying its best to make it a full house in the 68,000-capacity stadium on all the five days of the Test by offering a daily ticket starting as low as Rs 50.
