MS Dhoni: the greatest wicket-keeper batsman of all time?

The statistics of the former Indian skipper MS Dhoni suggest that he has been incredible with both bat and behind the stumps; he has also been the best finisher

Mahendra Singh Dhoni (MSD), who has played 350 One Day Internationals, 98 T-20s, and 90 Test matches, is arguably one of the best wicket-keepers the world of Cricket has seen. His cricket statistics clearly imply that he has been incredible with both the bat and behind the stumps. On the other hand, Dhoni with 139 stumpings holds the record of the highest number of dismissals among the Indian wicket-keepers.

MS Dhoni: The Wicket-Keeper/Batsman

The former Indian skipper's career has been a pleasure for the cricketing fans' eyes as he has also been the best finisher for the blues. He has scored a total of 17,266 runs in his 538 appearances in all three formats. MSD has hit ten and six centuries in the ODI and Test format, respectively. Also, he has knocked 33 and 73 half-centuries in the Test and ODI format, respectively. MSD has an incredible record behind the stumps with 634 catches, 33 run outs, 195 stumpings.

'MS Dhoni a valuable asset'

Former Australian wicket-keeper batsman Adam Gilchrist regards MSD on the top of the list. Gilly, who himself has scored a total of 15,461 runs in 396 appearances in all three formats, said that the way Dhoni has carried every role that he has under his job description. A wicket-keeper, batsman, captain everything has been fantastic. Also, the chief selector of the Indian team, MSK Prasad, has praised MS Dhoni as a valuable asset in the recently concluded 2019 World Cup. Dhoni retired from Test cricket a while ago but has been continuing to play the shorter format of the game. Although MS Dhoni gave up the captaincy for Virat Kohli to succeed as the leader of the squad but indirectly, the entire Indian squad believes Dhoni to be the one to lead team India in the shorter format of the game.
