Indian Women's start batter Mithali Raj has created a new record on her way to proving that Women cricketers are no less than the Men's cricketers. She has become the highest run-getter in T20Is for India, overtaking star Indian batsman Rohit Sharma to the feat.

Raj has 2232 runs in the format after 84 matches at an average of 37.20, with a best score of 97. As for Rohit, he has 2207 runs from 87 matches at an average of 33.43, with a career best of 118.

The Indian batswoman reached the top spot following her brilliant 56 against Pakistan in the fifth match of the ICC Women's World T20. The sensational display with the bat not only allowed her to create a record, but also helped her team beat their arch-rivals in a close encounter. India's victory was aided by the bonus 10 runs they had been given at the start of the innings, following a penalty handed to Pakistan.

Batting first, Pakistan managed a decent 133 for 7 in their 20 overs, much thanks to some brilliant in the middle of the innings by Bismah Maroof and Nida Dar. The two scored half-centuries each to help their side move forward from a poor start, wherein they were 30 for 3 at one point.

But their quest to defeat India became even more difficult, when the umpires hit them with a 10-run penalty. The Pakistani batters were warned as many as three times by the officials, who told them to avoid running on the pitch.

Despite the repeated warnings, they kept on making the same mistake, and were made to pay heavily for it. The 10-run penalty handed to Pakistan were given as two five-runs penalty for two separate incidents.

The first one took place in the first ball of the 18th over. The two batters on the field were found to be running on the field, and hence, the umpire handed the first 5-run penalty. And the second one was given for a similar incident in the final ball of the last over.
