The England cricket team are currently on a tour to New Zealand for a five-match T20I series and a two-match Test series. Unlike other Test matches these days, the Test series will not form a part of the ongoing inaugural ICC World Test Championship. The first match of the T20I series will be held on November 1 at the Hagley Oval in Christchurch. Due to hip injury, regular captain Kane Williamson was ruled out of the T20I series. Fast bowler Tim Southee was named as replacement skipper for the limited-overs contests. The last time these two teams faced each other in an international game was the final of the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup in England. The England team won that nail-biting final on boundary-count and were crowned world champions for the very first time in history.
