A couple of months after he sustained lower back injury, which ruled him out of the T20Is and first two Tests of the ongoing Australia tour, Hardik Pandya has made a smashing return to cricket, grabbing a fifer in the ongoing Ranji trophy.

The all-rounder, who was an automatic selection for Indian before a devastating injury struck him, bowled brilliantly for Baroda, taking five wickets and conceding just 81 runs against Mumbai.

On Day One, he first dismissed Aditya Tare before following it up with the wicket of Vilas Auti, removing both the openers in quick succession. And at the stroke of play, he got rid of Shivam Dubey. The next morning, he dismissed Akash Parkar and Royston Dias in no time to complete a fifer, his third in domestic cricket.

His fans on Twitter were delighted with his comeback, and called for his selection for the remaining three Tests against Australia.

His promising display in Ranji trophy could very well get him back to the Indian squad. The third Test between Australia and India does begins on December 26, and the all-rounder has more than week to prove his fitness.

Pandya had suffered his injury during the group stage fixture against Pakistan in the Asia Cup 2018, which India had eventually won. Bowling his fourth over, he fell down after completing the final delivery of the over. At first, it seemed like a slip, but moments later, the situation seemed very different.

Under the close attention of his teammates, Pandya withered in pain, and a stretcher was called for him. He was taken off the field, with major concerns about his involvement in the match, as well as the tournament.
