Victoria are currently hosting South Australia at the MCG in the 20th match of the Marsh One Day Cup 2019/20. Victoria look solid in their chase with Australia captain Aaron Finch having just scored a hundred. On the penultimate ball of the 28th over in Victoria's chase, captain Peter Handscomb was batting at 87 when he was dismissed because of a spectacular catch taken by South Australia's Cameron Valente.

Cameron Valente takes a blinder

It was the second-last ball of the 28th over and Kane Richardson bowled a short delivery outside Peter Handscomb's off-stump. Handscomb, batting at a confident 87, jabbed the ball towards the offside. It looked like the ball would land safely near the thirty-yard circle between mid-off and extra cover and may even crawl its way to the boundary but 25-year-old Cameron Valente had other ideas.

The all-rounder who was fielding at mid-off, ran to his left and jumped in a Supermanesque fashion with his left hand extending towards the ball and took a stunner of a catch to dismiss the Victorian captain. The crowd could not have enough of it and the same was visible when they could not stop applauding Valente's efforts while watching slow-motion replays.

Victoria look solid in the chase

As of this moment, Victoria look very planted in their chase of the Redbacks' 322. South Australia captain Alex Carey won the toss and chose to bat first. Led by Callum Ferguson's 122 and Tom Cooper's 81, the Redbacks got to 322/4 in their 50 overs. Victoria newcomer Xavier Crone dented the South Australian line-up with two wickets and an economy of 7.6.

Victoria's chase has looked pretty solid as opener Aaron Finch has solidified his end and was batting at 113 not out at the time of the report. Captain Peter Handscomb contributed with a handsome 87 before being dismissed because of Valente's blinder. Pacer Daniel Worrall sent two Victorian batsmen back to the pavilion in his spell. Victoria requires 54 runs in 42 balls.
