The cricket world has been lately witnessing a controversy that is really blowing up. The issue in question is that of Hardik Pandya's sexist and misogynist comments of Koffee With Karan that has landed him and his teammate KL Rahul in hot water. Now, after BCCI took a tough stand on the matter and slapped them with a show cause notice, famed cricket commentator Harsha Bhogle shared his take on the matter.
Appreciating the decision taken by the cricket board, he also felt that the young players should be taught about 'life beyond the dressing room'. Taking to Twitter, he wrote, "It is all very well to issue show-cause notices now to KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya. But I do wish the BCCI spends time in sensitising these young players to life beyond the dressing room; to getting them outside the bubble that is inevitable given the adulation they get."
This statement comes in light of Pandya and Rahul getting issued with show cause notices by the BCCI for their comments on women on the TV show on Wednesday. The Chairman of the Committee of Administrators that runs the BCCI, Vinod Rai said, "We have sent showcause notices to Hardik Pandya and K L Rahul for their comments. They have been given 24 hours to give an explanation."
The major controversy began when Pandya admitted on the show that he likes hooking up with multiple women and likes to watch them move in clubs. His comments triggered massive outrage on social media, post which the all-rounder promptly apologised. He issued a statement saying, "After reflecting on my comments on Koffee With Karan, I would like to apologise to everyone concerned who I may have hurt in any way. Honestly, I got a bit carried away with the nature of the show. In no way did I mean to disrespect or hurt anyone's sentiments. Respect."
