In a thoroughly dominant display, Manchester United beat West Ham United 4-0 at Old Trafford on Sunday in their opening game of the English Premier League. It was just like the old days, any United fan would say, ‘Attack, Attack, Attack’ chant was brought back to life as Mourinho’s men put out a solid attacking performance.

Manchester United had an electric start to the game as they started testing goalkeeper Joe Hart from the minute. Nemanja Matic and Romelu Lukaku who were playing for the first time for United in the premier league impressed as the team played well as a unit.

Even though United were constantly attacking, it was in the 26th minute that Matic caught the ball on the break allowing Rashford to run freely before passing it to Lukaku who clinically finished it first time. United were ahead and the game was alive.

The second half saw more of the same as the hammers just couldn’t get past a disciplined United defence. Mourinho’s men on the other hand kept piling on the pressure before Lukaku headed an unstoppable shot to double United’s lead.

The two goal cushion did not stop United from knocking at West Ham’s door as Rashford’s inch perfect shot from the edge of the box hit the sidebar before rolling nervously across the goal. Frenchman Anthony Martial then joined the party as he scored the third goal — a much needed morale boost for him. Pogba then added the finishing touches with a beautiful shot as Old Trafford knew they had witnessed a glimpse of the old days.

United are top of the table with a four goal advantage as they travel to the Liberty Stadium next week.
