Rahul Dravid to conduct training camp for U-16 talents from 16 nations

Former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid will conduct a month-long training camp for U-16 talent from 16 countries. The training camp will be held at the NCA.

In an upcoming initiative undertaken by the BCCI, it will be seen organising a 30-day training camp for Under-16 boys and girls. The month-long camp will be held at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bengaluru and will be supervised by former Indian cricketer Rahul Dravid, who is the head of the academy. 18 boys and 17 girls will be participating from 16 different countries in this first-of-its-kind event.

BCCI to provide training camp at NCA

The announcement was first made by the Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in April 2018 that India will be providing cricket training for budding young talents. BCCI has been streamlined to provide these participants with the best facilities and coaches over the course of 30 days. The camp has been given a go-ahead by the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. The 35 participants hail from countries like Botswana, Cameroon, Kenya, Mozambique, Mauritius, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, Uganda, Zambia, Malaysia, Singapore, Jamaica, Trinidad and Tobago, Fiji and Tanzania. The participants will also be provided with accommodation, cricketing kit, proper nutrition and conditioning facilities.

Rahul Dravid to oversee training of U-16 talents

Former Indian skipper Rahul Dravid has been appointed to train the budding young talents at the NCA. Dravid will undertake the customised training programs made for each participant. The legendary Indian cricketer also coaches the India Under-19 and India A teams. He is also the batting consultant in overseas conditions for the national side. Dravid announced his international retirement in 2012 after playing his last Test against Australia. The Bangalore-based cricketer represented India in 164 Tests and 344 ODI’s and is one of the few international batsmen to score over 10,000 runs in both formats. He also holds the record for most catches in Test cricket for a non-wicketkeeper.
