Ravi Shastri gets big pay hike on reappointment as India coach: Report

Ravi Shastri had retained his position of Team India's head coach till the end of ICC World T20 2021. He is expected to get a 20% hike in his remuneration

Ravi Shastri had everything to cheer about after the recently concluded series against West Indies where India completed a whitewash over the Caribbeans. Team India won the T20I series 3-0, ODI series 2-0 (one washed away due to rain) and Test series 2-0. Meanwhile, during the course of the tour, Ravi Shastri was also retained as the head coach of Team India and will continue the role till the end of ICC World T20 2021 which will be held in India. Ravi Shastri got the better of strong contenders like Mike Hesson, Tom Moody and others to retain his position, and now, details of his renewed contract have also been released.

Ravi Shastri gets a 20% hike in his remuneration: Reports

After Ravi Shastri retained his head coach post, he is expected to get a hike on his remuneration. As per reports, Ravi Shastri's CTC will have a 20% hike which means his annual package will be around  Rs 9.5 crore and Rs 10 crore. During his first term, the former all-rounder was getting an annual package of Rs 8 crore, as per reports. According to sources, not only Shastri but the support staff will also be getting a pay hike. The new contracts come into effect from September 1.

Ravi Shastri's impact on Team India 

Under Shastri, India have won over 70% of their matches. These victories include whitewashing Sri Lanka in their own backyard in Tests, ODI's and T20Is in the 2017/18 season, home series win against Australia and New Zealand, limited-overs bilateral series wins against South Africa, Asia Cup 2018, the historic Test series wins against Australia Down Under followed by bilateral ODI series wins against the Aussies and the Kiwis. Away Test series losses against South Africa and England, losing to Australia at home earlier this year and a semi-final exit in World Cup 2019 are something which was witnessed during his tenure.

Team India's two-year schedule

 In the next two years i.e. from the 2019-2021 cycle, Team India will be taking part in two ICC World T20 tournaments apart from the ICC World Test Championship which kicks off from the ongoing West Indies tour. Next year, the International Cricket Council (ICC) will also begin the One-Day Championship.
