Ravi Shastri wishes mother on birthday; Calls her his biggest critic

Indian team head coach Ravi Shastri wished his mother on her 80th birthday. Taking to Twitter, Shastri called his mother his biggest critic and inspiration.

Indian team head coach Ravi Shastri wished his mother on her 80th birthday on Wednesday. Taking to Twitter, Shastri called his mother his biggest critic and inspiration. Along with the message, Ravi Shastri also posted a photograph of himself with his mother, Lakshmi. Dressed in a mauve saree with a golden border, Lakshmi Shastri looked elegant while Ravi Shastri kept it casual in a round-neck t-shirt brown and khaki shorts.

Ravi Shastri: Fans react to the emotional message

Within a few hours, Ravi Shastri’s post went viral and Indian fans commented on his post. Some praised Shastri’s emotional message, while others wished for Lakshmi Shastri’s health. After seeing the pictures, some even called Shastri his mother’s shadow and praised how happy the mother-son duo looked.

On August 16, Ravi Shastri was appointed as the coach of the Indian cricket team for a second successive term. His tenure was extended till T20 World Cup 2020. Under Shastri's tenure, Men in Blue made it to the ICC Men's World Cup 2019 semi-final where they faced a defeat at the hands of New Zealand. The Indian team is playing against Bangladesh in the three-match T20I series where they lost the first match by seven wickets. India will eye to win the second game at Rajkot to level the series. In the upcoming T20I, Indian captain Rohit Sharma is scheduled to become the first Indian cricketer to feature in hundred T20 International matches. The only cricketer who has played more than 100 T20 International matches is Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik.
