  • Virender Sehwag was full of praise for Rohit after he scored an unbeaten 152 on Sunday
  • Rohit Sharma's unbeaten 152 not only helped India beat West Indies in the first ODI, but also helped him create a unique record

If Virat Kohli has some special connection with chasing, then Rohit Sharma has a special connection with big scores. The 'Hitman' of Indian cricket has at times been criticized for losing his wicket cheaply. But whenever he gets going, he tends to get 'Daddy hundreds'.

Against West Indies in the first ODI in Guwahati, India's vice-captain did exactly that. With his team chasing 323, he scored an unbeaten 152 to help the hosts record a simple victory. And in doing so, the 'Hitman' also achieved became a record holder.

Rohit, after his recent knock, has become the first and only player to have scored 150 or more six times in an ODI innings, overtaking Sachin Tendulkar, who had achieved the feat on five occasions. Here are the times the Indian vice-captain reached past the 150-mark.

  1. 203 against Australia in 2013 in Bangalore
  2. 264 against Sri Lanka in 2014 in Kolkata
  3. 150 against South Africa in 2015 in Kanpur
  4. 171 against Australia in 2016 in Perth
  5. 208 against Sri Lanka in 2017 in Mohali
  6. 152 against West Indies in 2018 in Guwahati

After his sensational batting display, former Indian opener, and an equally destructive batsman as Rohit, Virender Sehwag hailed the 'Hitman' for both his performance and the record. His Twitter post read, "Double Dhamaka. Kohli and Rohit made it look very easy. Congratulations @ImRo45 on your 6th 150+ score, the first man to do so. Tremendous achievement. #IndvWI."

Sehwag isn't the only one awed by Rohit's tremendous batting ability. His partner in crime against West Indies, Virat Kohli had nothing but praise for the opener following his match-winning performance on Sunday.

The Indian skipper said, "Feels pretty good. A convincing win. I thought West Indies were really good with the bat. And 320+ totals are always tricky. But we knew it's all about one partnership. And life isn't difficult when Rohit is at the other end. It's our 5th or 6th double-century partnership, it's a pleasure to bat with him."
