SC directs CoA to dissolve itself as Ganguly's team takes BCCI charge
The Supreme Court directed the Committee of Administrators (CoA) to dissolve itself when the Sourav Ganguly-led team takes charge as office bearers on Wednesday

In an obvious and logical conclusion, the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators will be dissolved the moment Sourav Ganguly-led new BCCI team takes charge as office bearers on Wednesday. Though the terms and conditions were already clearly spelt out by the COA on the date of announcement of BCCI elections by the COA, it was officially confirmed by the Supreme Court in its order on Tuesday. In a significant decision, the Supreme Court also directed that "no case would lie against the members of the CoA in respect of any action taken by them as members of CoA in good faith, without the leave of the Court." This is subject to interpretation but prima facie it would mean that none of the COA members can be held responsible for their action and decisions taken and it would not be binding upon the BCCI and State Associations to implement anything related to policy matter of the BCCI outside the ambit of their terms of reference.

Ganguly to take charge of the BCCI
Former India captain and Cricket Association of Bengal president Sourav Ganguly had emerged as a consensus candidate as the next BCCI President while Gujrat Cricket Association president Jay Shah will be the new Secretary. Both Ganguly and Shah filed their nominations along with Himachal Cricket Association President Arun Dhumal, brother of former BCCI president Anurag Thakur, who will be elected for the post of treasurer. Ganguly, however, will be the BCCI head for less than a year as will have to go through a cooling-off period after every two terms of three-year each (which he will complete in September next year), as per Supreme Court orders and Lodha Recommendations.
