Indian batsman Shikhar Dhawan has lashed out at Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi for his tweet insulting India and backing terrorism following Indian security forces' unprecedented crackdown on terror in the Valley which dealt a massive blow to the Lashkar-e-Taiba and Hizb-ul-Mujahideen's activities in the region.
Hitting back at Afridi for his controversial comments, Shikhar Dhawan on Thursday tweeted that he should first work towards improving the conditions in his own country and not use his brains too much.
Shikhar Dhawan launched a scathing attack on Shahid Afridi and wrote, “Pehle khudke desh ki haalat sudharo. Apni soch apne paas rakho. Apne desh ka joh hum kar rahe hai woh acha hi hai aur aage jo karna hai woh humein ache se pata hai. Zyaada dimaag mat lagao @SAfridiOfficial”
On Tuesday, Shahid Afridi had expressed concerns over ‘worrisome’ situation in Kashmir.
Shikhar Dhawan has joined a growing list of Indian cricketers who have slammed Shahid Afridi for his unsolicited, uninformed and factually compromised tweet. Sachin Tendulkar, Kapil Dev, Virat Kohli, Gautam Gambhir and Suresh Raina are some of the cricketers who have taken the Pakistani player on.
Meanwhile, the Pakistani Army has thrown its weight behind Shahid Afridi while Farooq Abdullah has backed him.
When Republic TV confronted Afridi about his tweet, his hypocrisy stood exposed as he refused to utter a word about 26/11 Mumbai attack mastermind Hafiz Saeed.
Following the neutralisation of 13 terrorists by Indian security forces in three encounters in the Valley, the Pakistani government had issued a number of statements attempting to portray the terrorists as 'innocents'. The truth of the matter, however, was that the terrorists killed were far from innocent. The counter-terror operations are said to have dealt a huge blow to the Hizb-ul-Mujahideen and the Lashkar-e-Taiba and two of the terrorists had been involved in the cowardly killing of Lt Ummer Fayaz in May 2017.
