Guyana Amazon Warriors defeated Barbados Tridents in the first qualifier to enter their second successive CPL final. During the course of the match, Guyana's captain Shoaib Malik also scored his 9000th T20 run, becoming only the fourth batsman to do so across all T20 matches. His innings of 32 runs from 19 balls and his 97-run partnership with Brandon King was instrumental in Guyana posting a mammoth 218-3 on the board. In spite of some big hits from Jonathan Carter and captain Jason Holder in the final 10 overs, the Barbados Tridents could not keep up with the asking rate as they fell 30 runs short off the target.
