The Multan Sultans put their Pakistan Super League play-off hopes back on track in style on Sunday with a crushing 8-wicket victory over Peshawar Zalmi in Abu Dhabi.

A magnificent captain's knock from Mohammad Rizwan, supported by Sohaib Maqsood, saw the Sultans chase down a target of 167 with eight wicketsin hand and 21 balls to spare.

Rizwan struck two sixes and nine fours in an unbeaten 56-ball 82 and shared a second wicket partnership of 116 with Sohaib, who bludgeoned five sixes and four fours of his own in a 31-ball 61 before he was dismissed with the finish line in sight.

Earlier, Shahnawaz Dhani took 4-31 with the ball in the Peshawar innings to become the tournament's leading wicket-taker with 13.

Peshawar were hoping to join Islamabad United and Lahore Qalandars at the top of the standings on ten points, but remain in third on eight with a 4-4 record.

Rizwan's Sultans now have six points with a match in hand on Zalmi at 3-4.
