India's T20I vice-captain Smriti Mandhana continued her fine run of form in the in the KIA Super League. The Indian stalwart added another feather to her illustrious cap by smashing the joint-fastest T20 half century of all time as she took just 18 balls to achieve this incredible feat.

In her blitzkrieg knock, the left-handed bats women playing for Western Storm, hit 5 fours and 4 sixes, in a rain-shortened six-over game. What's more interesting is that she got to the landmark in outstanding fashion by smashing a six. With this Smriti Mandhana, who is the first Indian to play in the KIA Super League, equaled the record of New Zealand's Sophie Devine which she set in 2005 against India in Bengaluru,

Known for her record-breaking breaking instincts, Mandhana's recent feat surpasses her own 25-ball 50 record she had set during a T201 against England in March. This also betters her 30-ball 50 record she had set previously against Australia.

Earlier, Mandhana had come close to pulling off off the fastest fifty in KSL history on her debut, but she was dismissed for a 20-ball 48 against Yorkshire Diamonds in a successful run-chase. She smashed as many as five sixes and three boundaries in that innings.

However, the explosive hitter put that disappointment behind her this time. Mandhana produced another fine innings, this time remaining not out at 52 off 19 balls, and comfortably leading her side to a 18-run victory over Loughborough.

Smriti Mandhana has amassed 857 runs in 40 T20Is and 1464 runs in 41 ODIs since making her debut in both formats five years ago.

Incidentally, another Indian is also the joint record-holder for the fastest fifty in T20 cricket. Yuvraj Singh's knock against England during the 2007 ICC T20 World Cup occupies top with Chirs Gayle's whirlwind innings for the Melbourne Renegades against Adelaide Strikers. The duo took 12 balls to reach this milestone.
