T10 League: Andy Flower becomes Maratha Arabians coach after ECB exit

Zimbabwe Legend Andy Flower has been appointed as the Head coach for the Maratha Arabians for Season three of the T10 League. The advancements have come after Andy Flower recently left the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) after being with the board for 12 years. Andy Flower is, statistically, the best batsman to come out of Zimbabwe. He will now be taking on a new challenge in the form of T10 cricket.

Speaking about his appointment as the coach for the Arabians, Andy Flower spoke about how the format allows him to test himself in a world-class environment. The former cricketer mentioned how he was "looking towards the future with hope." Andy Flower has freshly left the England and Wales Cricket board after his 12-year stint in the body. In this period, Flower served as the head coach of the English men's side and saw them lift their first ICC trophy. After England's failures in the 2013-14 Ashes, Flower took on the role of the Technical Director of English Cricket. Andy expressed his optimism about the appointment of Chris Silverwood as the new England Head coach, as he left the ECB.

The Maratha Arabians look promising

The Maratha Arabians finished last season in the fourth place after losing the third-place match-up to the Bengal Tigers. The team boasts of talent like Australian batsman Chris Lynn, Sri Lanka legend Lasith Malinga, the multi-talented West Indian DJ Bravo, promising Afghani batsman Hazaratullah Zazai and Najibullah Zadran. Their first match will be against the Northern Warriors on November 15 at the Abu Dhabi Cricket Stadium. The Northern Warriors are the defending champions of the T10 league.
