Days after it revealed that the Redmi Y3 will come with a gradient finish on the back, Xiaomi has revealed the full design of the selfie-centric smartphone. In a newly posted teaser video highlighting the durability aspect of the Redmi Y3, Xiaomi has shown off the phone in question in all its totality. While it is yet to be seen whether the Redmi Y3 will be as durable as the Redmi Note 7/Redmi Note 7 Pro, design-wise, it will look a lot like them – from the front as well as from the back.

This means, the Redmi Y3 will have a glossy back (it is yet to be seen if it is glass or all-plastic), capable of bending light to achieve a prism-like effect and should be available in multiple colours – the phone seen in the teaser video is blue. On the front, the Redmi Y3 will have a Redmi Note 7/Redmi Note 7 Pro-like dot notch which is Xiaomi’s take on the waterdrop-style notch.

The teaser, in addition, confirms dual rear cameras, and reaffirms that the Redmi Y3 will ship with a 32MP selfie camera. Lastly, there’s also a fingerprint scanner on the back of the phone. Xiaomi has already confirmed that the Redmi Y3 will house a massive 4,000mAh battery inside although it isn’t clear if it will support fast charging through USB Type-C like the Redmi Note 7 Pro.

Although the video speaks about the durability aspect of the phone, it does not explicitly mention whether the Redmi Y3 has some sort of protective coating like Corning Gorilla Glass 5 in the Redmi Note 5/Redmi Note 5 Pro. But it looks like the Redmi Y3 will indeed have some sort of protective coating.

Xiaomi is gearing to launch the selfie-centric Redmi Y3 in India on April 24 – and unless Xiaomi announces it anywhere else before that, India will be the first market to get the Redmi Y3. Since Xiaomi is yet to launch the Redmi Y3 anywhere else in the world, the teaser becomes your very first look at the phone. And by the looks of it, Xiaomi is continuing to up the premium quotient of its budget Redmi phones.
