This Twitter post by Mumbai Indians for Yuvraj Singh will remind every Indian fan of 2011 World Cup

Before Mumbai lock horns with Delhi, they decided to go eight years down the line to honour the veteran Indian all-rounder Yuvraj Singh who had helped India beat Australia in quarterfinal of 2011 World Cup.

Just hours before their first fixture of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019 season against Delhi Capitals (DC), Mumbai Indians paid a heartwarming tribute to one of its newest recruits for this edition, Yuvraj Singh.

The three-time champions, which had just over a week ago posted a video about Yuvi's 2011 World Cup nostalgia at the Wankhede stadium, posted a photo on their official Twitter handle to compliment the left-hander for another of his achievement during the grand event.

MI's Twitter handle decided to go eight years down the line to honour the veteran Indian all-rounder, who had helped India beat Australia in quarterfinals of the 2011 World Cup. The franchise showed their respect in a very special manner:

Yuvraj had scored a gritty 65-ball 57 and remained unbeaten till the end against Australia in that fixture. He had shared a 74-run stand with Suresh Raina (34) and also hit the winning boundary to take India into the semi-finals of that World Cup.

Most importantly, Yuvi's knock also ended Australia's 12-year long World Cup reign. This performance, coupled with his performance throughout the tournament earned Yuvraj the 'Player of the Tournament' award. In the course of the World Cup win, he had amassed 362 runs and taken 15 wickets.

The 37-year-old will be representing Mumbai Indians in the 12th edition of IPL. He will be looking to make an impact at Wankhede where he had realized his World Cup dream.

Prior to his stint with MI, Yuvi featured for Kings XI Punjab in the 2018 season, but made a little impact. Before that, Yuvraj who was a part of Sunrisers Hyderabad team which had successfully won the IPL title in 2016. This will be the sixth franchise he will be representing since the inception of the tournament in 2008.
