Australia's Test Vice Captain, Travis Head is eyeing a comeback in test cricket after he was frozen out of the team post the Ashes series earlier this series. Head is looking to gain his form back by scoring runs in the upcoming Marsh Cup, the domestic one-day competition, in a bid to get back in the Australian Test Team. After Australia won the fourth Test of the Ashes securing the urn, Head was replaced by all-rounder Mitchell Marsh for final Test at the Oval owing to his poor form as he averaged just 27.28 in four Tests.

Travis Head set to play Marsh Cup

Travis Head has been unable to regain his form in Tests as in his first Sheffield Shield outing of the 2019-20 season, where he captains South Australia, he could only notch up scores of 51, 0 and 12. Head looks positive to score some runs and get the confidence needed as his side is scheduled to face Queensland in The Marsh Cup. Head while speaking to cricket.au said, one-day cricket in the middle of summer can give you a little bit of freedom.

"I came to hit the ball with some freedom. I have restricted myself at the moment, but I am positive, I feel runs are not too far away," he said. The left-handed batsman further acknowledged that he hasn't made enough runs to persuade the test spot yet. However, he expressed hope of returning in the team for the home series against Pakistan.

Australia to host Pakistan for 2 Tests

"The game can sometimes be a bit cruel. Sometimes you can get a lot of runs and feel like you are not batting up to the mark whereas sometimes you can do everything right and yet not get runs. I would love to be a part of the team against Pakistan. If I play good in a one-day game and follow it with a good Shield game, I can be back in form," Head said. Australia is set to host Pakistan for a two-test series beginning on November 21 in Brisbane.
