Sam Curran had a bittersweet moment as Kings XI Punjab's hosted Delhi Capitals at the IS Bindra Stadium on Monday. He was picked in the Punjab squad over Chris Gayle and opened the batting alongwith KL Rahul. He played a cameo of a 10-ball 20 which included three boundaries and a maximum. However, he surprised one and all with his match-winning spell. He dismissed the well-set Colin Ingram who was threatening to take the match away from Punjab. He then took the wicket of Harshal Patel as Delhi were staring down the barrel. When he came into bowl the final over, he castled Kagiso Rabada in the first ball which meant that he was on a hat-trick as he had scalped Harshal Patel on the final ball of the 20th over. He completed his hat-trick after he castled Sandeep Lamichhane as he helped his team register a 14 run win.
Curran was adjudged 'Man of the Match' for his outstanding spell of 4-11 in his 2.2 overs at an economy of 4.71. His match winning spell was shared on Twitter.
Even the netizens were full of praises for the English all-rounder.
