At the toss time of the second Test between Australia and India in Perth, which began on December 14, Indian fans were left stunned when Virat Kohli announced his team's playing XI. Having won the first Test with a sumptuous performance, the visitors were hit with twin blows in the form of Ravichandran Ashwin and Rohit Sharma, both out due to injuries.
Kohli announced that Hanuma Vihari had replaced Rohit, a decision which was expected given he was the only middle order batsman in the squad. But when the Indian skipper announced the replacement of Ashwin, fans were shocked.
Given the nature of Perth pitch, which is expected to be bouncy, a fourth seamer was expected to replace the off-spinner. Everyone had predicted Bhuvneshwar Kumar to come in the playing XI, much due to his ability with the new ball.
Though, Kohli had other ideas, as he chose Umesh Yadav over Bhuvi, despite the former having only played one overseas Test this year. And this decision was not met positively by the Twitterati, who had a go at the Indian skipper for his call.
