Umesh Yadav had an outstanding Test match at the JSCA Stadium in Ranchi where he shone with the bat, ball and on the field. Yadav had hit the bull's eye to run out Kagiso Rabada after a slight misfield on Sunday. He had taken five wickets in the entire match i.e. 3/40 at an economy of 4.44 which included a maiden in the first innings and 2/35 at an economy of 3.89 including a maiden in the second. However, what stood out the most was his entertaining batting performance on Sunday. Meanwhile, Umesh Yadav had something special to say about his enterprising knock.

Umesh terms his knock as 'Diwali Dhamaka'

After the match, Umesh Yadav went on to term his outstanding cameo as 'Diwali Dhamaka'. 

"Captain gave me the free hand to slog and I felt like playing a tennis cricket game," Yadav said in a video posted by BCCI."I thought if Diwali Dhamaka happens before Diwali it would be good," he added.

Coming out to bat at number nine, Umesh Yadav had lasted for any 10 deliveries but he scored a quickfire 31 which included five sixes at a strike rate of 310. Playing his 43rd Test, Yadav's explosive batting helped him register his highest score in red-ball cricket. Meanwhile, he also shattered some a few records as a batsman as well. The bowler, whom Umesh had hit for five maximums was left-arm spinner George Linde who was making his debut. Nonetheless, he had a forgettable debut as he was first smashed by Umesh for two consecutive sixes and then for three more maximums in his next over. Nonetheless, Linde got his man in that over itself. Meanwhile, the speedster has now become the first batsman to register the fastest 30-plus score in Test cricket as he surpassed former New Zealand skipper Stephen Fleming who had scored an unbeaten 31 off just 11 deliveries against South Africa back in 2004. At the same time, Umesh also became the second Indian player after the great Sachin Tendulkar to hit two sixes off the first two deliveries. India declared their innings at 497/9.

India ease past South Africa 

India took only two overs to wrap South Africa’s second innings on Tuesday as they won the third Test by an innings and 202 runs at Ranchi. In the process, they whitewashed South Africa (SA) 3-0. This is not just the 4th biggest innings defeat for SA, but also only the third time since re-admission that the team has lost all matches in a series involving three or more Tests. By the virtue of this win, the top-ranked side in the game's longest format maintain an undisputed run in the ICC World Test Championship points table with 240 points in five matches. South Africa will now be back in India for a three-match ODI series in March 2020.
