Umpire Rod Tucker warns MS Dhoni over Ambati Rayudu leaving his crease too early, avoids another 'Mankading' incident

In a dramatic contest between Chennai Super Kings and Kings XI Punjab at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday, Umpire Rod Tucker interacted with CSK captain MS Dhoni on pitch over Ambati Rayudu leaving the non-striker's end too early and avoided another 'Mankading' incident. 

During CSK's innings, the on-field umpire, Rod Tucker had a chat with skipper MS Dhoni to warn him about his batting partner Ambati Rayudu's mistake. Rayudu was seen coming down the wicket regularly at the non-striker's end before the bowlers had completed delivering the ball.

With Rayudu leaving the crease in a casual manner, Punjab's Mohammed Shami had a good opportunity to run him out under the Mankading rule.

Therefore, Tucker decided to let MS Dhoni know about the same in order to save Rayudu from yet another 'Mankading' incident. After talking to Dhoni, Tucker was seen warning Rayudu as well.

The 'Mankading' saga has been the talking point of this year's IPL after KXIP skipper Ravichandran Ashwin had run out Rajasthan's opening batsman Jos Buttler in March.

Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings beat Kings XI Punjab by 22 runs to reach the summit of the points table on Saturday. Dhoni, who made his 150th IPL appearance, won the toss and elected to bat first.

CSK got off to a brisk start as Faf du Plessis and Shane Watson shared a 56 run opening stand. Faf who was playing his first game of the season registered his 10th IPL half-century as he scored a 38-ball 54. MS Dhoni and Ambati Rayudu then stitched in a 60 run stand and took CSK to a competitive score of 160/3 in their 20 overs. Dhoni played a fine cameo of a 23-ball 37 which included four boundaries and a six at a strike rate of 142.11.

In reply, Kings XI Punjab lost their explosive opener Chris Gayle and Mayank Agarwal early but a 110 run between KL Rahul (55) and Sarfaraz Khan (67) kept Punjab's hopes alive. However, once the duo were dismissed, KXIP lost their momentum and could only end up getting to 138/5 in their 20 overs.
