The clash between Sunrisers Hyderabad and Rajasthan Royals turned out to be a run fest on Friday as both teams entertained the fans with some exceptional batting performances at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Among the runs were young Sanju Samson and the consistent David Warner. Both played outstanding yet contrasting knocks for their respective teams. While Samson's ton went in vain for the Royals, Warner's knock went on to be a match-winning one as the 'Orange Army' registered their maiden win of this year's IPL. Both the star batsmen were seen discussing about each other's knock after the match. This video was shared on Twitter
In this video, Sunrisers Hyderabad superstar David Warner congratulates Sanju Samson for his brilliant ton. In reply the young Kerala batsman says that Warner had destroyed his knock and also goes on to add that his century was not enough for the team and that they needed 250 runs on the board.
Rajasthan Royals decided to bat first after winning the toss and suffered an early setback when their star opening batsman Jos Buttler was castled by Rashid Khan for five. Then Sanju Samson shared a 119 run stand with skipper Ajinkya Rahane (70) for the second wicket. Samson scored the first ton of this year's IPL and this was also his second IPL century. His 55-ball 102 included 10 fours and four sixes at a strike rate of 185.45 which was instrumental in Royals getting to a competitive score of 198/2 in their 20 overs.
In reply the hosts attacked right from the word 'Go' as David Warner and Jonny Bairstow put on a 110-run opening stand. Warner registered his second straight half-century with a splendid 37-ball 69 at a strike rate of 186.49. In the end, Warner's knock went on to overshadow Samson's ton as the 'Orange Army' won this contest by five wickets.
