Karun Nair's exclusion from the Test squad from India's Test squad to face West Indies raised many eyebrows among the Indian cricketing fraternity. The fact that Karun Nair was part of India's squad for the last two overseas tour, but all he did was warm the bench, has left many fuming.

While many fans would've hoped for the talented right-handed batsman to atleast get some playing time during the home tour of West Indies, but much to everyone's surprise, Nair wasn't even included in the squad for selection into the playing XI.

Karun Nair is the only Indian to score a triple-century in Test century and is omission has quite about created a stir among the Indian cricketing circles, after the selection committee decided to ignore him and opt for one Test-old Hanuman Vihari.

When Virat Kohli was posed this question as to why Karun Nair was axed from the squad, the Indian skipper replied in typical fashion insisting that selection of players was not his department.

"Selectors have already spoken about it and it is not my place to say. There are selectors doing their job. You can conveniently merge everything and make it a circle where everyone is doing their job and not focusing on what people are saying on the outside," Kohli said at the pre-match press conference at Rajkot.

''If a person has spoken about it already, it should not be brought in here again. The chief selector has already spoken to the player of what I know. I don't think I need to comment on that.''

"Selection is not my job. As a team we are doing what we are supposed to. Everyone should be aware of their respective jobs."

Virat Kohli further asserted that selection of players was not a joint decision and the respective stakeholders are well aware of their responsibilities.

"People should also realise that it is not a joint thing everywhere. That is the confusion right now where people are combining everything and thinking everything is happening from one place which is not true," said Kohli dismissing claims that the captain and team management call the shots when it comes to player selection.
