Virat Kohli hailed by former cricketers for 'run-machine' like form

Virat Kohli was hailed by both former and present cricketers after his fantastic knock of 254 runs on Day two against South Africa in the second Test in Pune. Virat Kohli broke many records and surpassed the likes of Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag as he registered his seventh double-hundred in Tests, the most by any Indian batsman until now. Former Indian Test cricketer VVS Laxman lauded Virat Kohli's execution and said that the younger generation of cricketers had loads to learn from Virat Kohli. Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh took to Twitter to congratulate run machine Virat Kohli for his knock of 254 runs. Limited overs opener Shikhar Dhawan congratulated Virat Kohli for his stupendous innings and for a record number of double tons. Earlier, Virat Kohli was hailed by the netizens as a 'selfless skipper' for declaring the game at the fall of Ravindra Jadeja wicket instead of aiming to get to 300 runs as he had 18 overs left.

Virat Kohli scores 250, goes past Tendulkar

Resuming his innings on Day two, skipper Virat Kohli played a magnificent knock en route to 250 runs and received good support from Ravindra Jadeja on the other end. Ajinkya Rahane was dismissed for 59 runs following which the Indian skipper stepped on the accelerator and quickly went from scoring a 100 to a 200 and finally a 250. On the other hand, Ravindra Jadeja narrowly missed out on his century by just nine runs as he fell prey to South Africa's Senuran Muthuswamy. Skipper Virat Kohli was hailed as a selfless skipper by the fans for declaring the innings at the fall of Jadeja's wicket instead of pursuing his maiden score of 300 runs as there were still 18 overs left for the day. Virat Kohli's latest knocks takes his Test tally to 7054 runs, averaging 55.11 with seven double-hundreds to his name. Virat Kohli also broke Australian legend Don Bradman's record of scoring the most number of 150-run knocks as a captain as he registered the ninth 150-run score of his career as opposed to Bradman's eight.

Virat Kohli 7000: The Milestone Man

Virat Kohli reached the milestone of 7000 in his 138th innings. Only Wally Hammond, Virender Sehwag, and Sachin Tendulkar have reached the milestone quicker than him. Virat’s Innings was laced with 33 fours and 2 sixes. He also went past 21,000 International runs, further confirming his status as one of the best players of the modern era. Virat Kohli yesterday became only the second Indian captain to lead the country in 50 Test matches, the first being his predecessor MS Dhoni. Kohli also broke the record of most 150+ scores as captain- today’s knock being his 9th- going past Don Bradman’s eight. Kohli got lucky after he was dismissed off Senuran Muthusamy, which was later adjudged as a no-ball.
