Indian Cricket Captain, Virat Kohli was in New Delhi on Thursday for the renaming event of the Firoz Shah Kotla stadium and also on the eve of a stand at the stadium being named after him. The iconic Firoz Shah Kotla stadium of New Delhi will now be known as Arun Jaitley Stadium as a tribute to the former Finance Minister.

DDCA names a stand at renamed stadium after Virat Kohli

Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) have named a stand after the Indian Skipper Virat Kohli at the newly renamed Arun Jaitley stadium, New Delhi. Kohli expressed his gratitude for this honour.

The event was attended by renowned political personalities, Veterans of Indian Cricket Team like Kapil Dev, Indian Cricket team Coach Ravi Shastri, and many more.

The crowd goes crazy as Virat thanks Anushka

Taking to the stage Kohli expressed his gratitude to everybody. 

"I have everyone special here, I have my brother, my bhabhi, my wife Anushka, my childhood coach Ramdas sir. I would like to thank them all," Virat Kohli said. 

The crowd at the stadium went crazy when the Indian Skipper took the stage and called out his wife, Anushka. A loud cheer from the audience was heard when Virat thanked Anushka. Anushka Sharma was seen smiling as she took to the front row seat at the Felicitation ceremony.

Sharing an incident he said, "When I left home today, I told my family one anecdote...I remember getting a ticket to watch a game in 2001 at the stadium and asking for autographs from players... So today to have a pavilion in my name at the same stadium is surreal and a great honour."

Honouring Arun Jaitley

During the ceremony, Virat Kohli also remembered India's former Finance Minister, Arun Jaitley. Kohli called it to be a proud moment for him as he got a stand named after him at the same time when the stadium was being renamed after Arun Jaitley.

He said "I have known Arun Jaitley ji as a human, I remember the time when my father had passed away, he came home from his busy schedule and motivated me. I had a special connection with him and he was a very good human. It's a proud moment for me to be standing here today as the stadium is also being renamed after Arun Jaitley."
