What better than a captain who injects in his team the confidence to win? Virat Kohli has done just that. Differing from the safety-first mentality of the past captains, Virat Kohli has always had a very aggressive approach. The captain of the Indian Cricket Team has made sure that the team plays on attack mode, unlike in the past, when India has always been on defence.

Test Captain Kohli

Virat Kohli recently added a feather to his hat, when he was declared as the most successful Indian Test captain ever. Irrespective of what many believed, Kohli has never failed to go after his intuitions. The 30-year-old batsman embraced the attacking mentality and strategised to put five frontline ballers. With Jasprit Bumrah performing as well as he did in the series, India claimed the number one spot on the scoreboard under Kohli’s captaincy.

Virat recently said that it is extremely essential to manage the workload of the players. Talking about Bumrah and his phenomenal performance, he mentioned why he didn't play any white-ball cricket after the World Cup because they wanted him to be fresh for the Tests. Bumrah is considered to be a key factor for the team. Kohli stated that he did the same thing with Ishant Sharma and Mohammed Shami.

Talking about his captaincy, Virat said that It was a blessing that he is in a position where he could contribute to the team in more than one way. Kohli likes responsibility, but nothing is possible without the team. If the team hadn't bowled or batted the way they have, India wouldn't have won the Tests. Kohli believes the credit can't be taken away from them at all. Virat Kohli closely takes inspiration from the way MS Dhoni captained the side. After MS Dhoni stepped down, Kohli started his reign to lead the team in all formats of the game.
