Over the years, Indian captain Virat Kohli has played many memorable innings against Pakistan. Many of his best efforts came against the archrivals, which also includes his highest ever score of 183* in ODI cricket. As fans celebrate the 31st birthday of the cricketer on Thursday, we take a look at some of the most memorable knocks played by the right-handed batsman.

49, Asia Cup T20 2016, Dhaka

What was about to become a completely one-sided affair turned out to be a classic India-Pakistan encounter. Team India, chasing a paltry 84 for victory, got off to a nightmarish start. A young Mohammad Amir fired on all cylinders to leave the ‘Men in Blue’ tottering at 8-3 in his opening spell. Virat Kohli then formed a crucial partnership with stalwart Yuvraj Singh and played one of his all-time best T20 innings. Kohli scored 49 runs from 51 balls before he was wrongly adjudged lbw on the brink of an Indian win.

107, ICC Cricket World Cup 2015, Adelaide

Team India began their title defence with a game against Pakistan at the ICC Cricket World Cup 2015. In front of a packed Adelaide Oval, the Indian team batted first and scored 300-7. Coming at number 3, Kohli scored a fluent 107 from 126 balls and formed back-to-back 100+ stands with Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane. India eventually won the match and made it 6-0 against Pakistan in ODI World Cups.

183, Asia Cup 2012, Dhaka

In the fifth game of the 2012 Asia Cup, Pakistan posted a huge 329-6 batting first. A young Virat Kohli then took charge of India’s epic run-chase by registering his highest ever ODI score. Kohli scored 183 runs from just 148 balls, which included 22 boundaries and one six.

55*, ICC World Twenty20 2016, Kolkata

Hosting the World Twenty20 for the first time, the hosts were shocked by New Zealand in their opening game of the tournament. Facing Pakistan at the Eden Gardens, Team India were chasing 119 in a rain-affected match. After being reduced to 23-3 in five overs, Kohli then joined forces with Yuvraj Singh to play match-winning innings of 55. His knock came from just 37 balls in front of a packed Eden Gardens crowd.
