Naseeruddin Shah has slammed Indian cricket captain Virat Kohli for his on-field behaviour. The veteran actor wrote on Facebook that the star player is the world’s best batsmen, but also the ‘world’s worst behaved player’. He added that his cricketing brilliance ‘pales’ in front of his ‘arrogance and bad manners.’ Shah concluded the post by saying that he doesn’t wish to leave the country.
“Virat K is not only the worlds best batsman but also the worlds worst behaved player. His cricketing brilliance pales beside his arrogance and bad manners.. And I have no intention of leaving the country by the way,(sic)” wrote Naseeruddin Shah on Facebook.
His reference is to the recent controversy over the cricketer’s comment asking a person to live outside India for calling him overrated and preferring Australia and English batsmen over him.
Shah’s comment comes in the wake of Virat’s lengthy verbal duel with Australian captain Tim Paine during day 4 of the ongoing cricket series down under. On-field umpire Chris Gaffaney had handed a warning to the two as well. The two captains came close to chest bumping at one moment.
Shah had taken a dig at another superstar of the country, Salman Khan, recently, saying people shouldn’t associate Indian cinema with the actor’s films 200 years down the line.
“People should know what the India of 2018 was like. They shouldn’t end up seeing only Salman Khan films 200 years later. India is not like that. Cinema is for posterity,” he was quoted as saying at an event in October.
On the professional front, Shah was seen in the movie ‘Aiyaary’ earlier this year.
