After the encounter with the Airport security at Manchester regarding carrying insulin, Wasim Akram took to Twitter to express how he feels about the whole incident. The former Pakistan pacer believes that he shouldn't have been treated differently from anyone else. He added that he believes that there should be a standard of care when the airport authority is dealing with every traveler. He agreed that there have to be proper safety precautions but that doesn't mean people should be humiliated.

Earlier, Wasim Akram lashed out at the Manchester airport authorities for allegedly asking him to take his insulin out of its travel cold-case and dumped into a plastic bag. The former seamer was disheartened and felt very humiliated as he was 'rudely' questioned and ordered publicly to take out the insulin.

Akram was a part of the Pakistan squad that had lost to India in its four World Cup encounters in 1992, 1996, 1999 and 2003 respectively. However, he did not take part in the 1996 World Cup quarterfinal at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium where he was captaining the Pakistan side as he pulled out just moments before the toss citing an injury and Aamir Sohail was made the stand-in captain.

Akram has 502 scalps in 356 ODIs and 414 scalps in 181 Test innings. With the bat, Akram has scored 3717 runs in 356 ODIs and 2898 runs in 147 Test innings. He has a high score of 257 runs against Zimbabwe at Sheikhupura in 1996-97.
