Kolkata Knight Riders won their final home game against Mumbai Indians by 34 runs. By the virtue of this win, KKR have now jumped to the fifth spot in the points table after having registered five wins in their 12 games with 10 points.

However, the day belonged to Andre Russell who was the pioneer of KKR's convincing win. The West Indian all-rounder had showcased a stellar all-round perfoemance with both bat and the ball as a result of which he was adjudged 'Man of the Match'.But, the the hard-hitting Caribbean had yet another reason to rejoice the victory as well as his individual achievement. He will be turning 31 on Monday (April 29) but his team-mates decided to celebrate his birthday in advance. Post their victory, a cake was arranged for the special occasion as the KKR players joined Russell to cut the cake. The players sang 'Happy Birthday' to you while Russell's West Indies team-mate Sunil Narine came and stood behind the big man. Sensing something was wrong, Russell asked him to stand ahead of him. Nonetheless, Narine was seen instructing some one. As soon as the Jamaican all-rounder finished cut the cake, his Caribbean team-mate Carlos Brathwaite came from behind and held him tightly as the 'Man of the Match' winner was then left cake faced by his team-mates.

Russell had played an outstanding knock of an unbeaten 40-ball 80 at a strike rate of 200 including six boundaries and eight sixes. His knock helped the hosts get to a mammoth total of 232/2 in their 20 overs. Russell also provided breakthroughs for KKR with the ball by picking up the wickets of Evin Lewis and Suryakumar Yadav. He finished his bowling spell with figures of 2/25 in his four overs at an economy of 6.25.

In reply, Mumbai's run chase never took off as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Hardik Pandya waged a lone battle with a splendid knock of a 34-ball 91. His blistering knock helped Mumbai get to 198/7 in their 20 overs.
