Rajasthan Royals brought their campaign back on track by registering an emphatic three-wicket win over Kolkata Knight Riders at the Eden Gardens on Thursday. By the virtue of this win, the inaugural edition winners have now edged past Royal Challengers Bangalore to make it to the seventh spot in the points table.

Even this match had its fair share of memorable moments which included Varun Aaron's impressive bowling figures and KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik's captain's knock. However, what stood out the most was Andre Russell's brilliant catch. Russell who had failed with the bat earlier made up with a spectacular catch on the field.

The incident happened in the 11th over of Rajasthan's run chase which was bowled by Piyush Chawla and Ben Stokes was on strike. Chawla bowled a googly on the very first delivery as the English all-rounder made a lot of room and slashed the ball hard. He had timed the ball nicely and it appeared that the ball will travel the distance, and end up clearing the boundary. However, Andre Russell timed his jump to perfection and took a perfectly balanced catch at the long-on boundary. At one point it looked like the ball go over his hard but the West Indian all-rounder had judged the ball well. After taking the catch, Russell jokingly pretended to throw the ball inside the boundary line as Ben Stokes walked back to the dugout.

However, this wicket did not impact Rajasthan Royals too much as they kept their nerves in this tense run chase. They lost wickets at regular intervals after a good start provided by Ajinkya Rahane and Sanju Samson. The duo had added 53 runs for the opening stand. When it seemed like the Royals run chase was losing its momentum young Riyan Parag and Jofra Archer stitched in a match-winning partnership of 44 runs as the Royals reached the target with four balls to spare.

Earlier Dinesh Karthik had played a captain's knock of an unbeaten 50-ball 97 which helped KKR get to a competitive total of 175/6 in their 20 overs.
