India's fast bowler Ashok Dinda on Monday suffered a massive injury scare after a fierce shot struck his forehead during Bengal's T20 practice game for Mushtaq Ali Championship.
The incident took place when the batsman hit the ball fiercely straight back at the bowler. Dinda tried to catch the ball, but was too late to react, which resulted in the ball hitting his forehead.
He fell to the ground instantly, and the players surrounded and checked up him, fearing a serious injury. The physio and medical staff immediately reached the spot and took note of the hit he suffered.
Fortunately for Dinda, the CT scan and reports suggested that the injury wasn't much serious. The Cricket Association of Bengal said that he will be fine soon, and a couple of days rest is all that is required.
"Dinda looked fine as he completed the over before returning back to the dressing room. As a precautionary measure, he was taken for scans. There is nothing alarming but he has been advised two days of rest," a CAB official told PTI.
Twitter users expressed their best wishes for the fast-bowler, and were glad that the injury wasn't serious.
