Sunrisers Hyderabad beat Kings XI Punjab by 45 runs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Monday to keep their playoff hopes alive. At the same time, the 'Orange Army' also avenged their reverse fixture loss against the 2014 finalists. SRH who had also played their last home game of the season jumped to the fourth spot in the points table after the victory with 12 points in 12 games.

Just like all the other games, even this game had its fair share of memorable moments. One of these moments also involved the Kings XI Punjab skipper Ravichandran Ashwin. No, it was neither a 'Mankading' incident nor did the veteran off-spinner vent his anger. It was arguably his best attempt to take a stunning catch.

The incident happened in the 12th over of SRH's innings which was bowled by Mohammed Shami and Manish Pandey was on strike. On the very first delivery, Shami bowled one as Pandey stayed inside the crease and lofted his bat with the aim of finding the long-on boundary. However, he did not time the ball that well as it found KXIP skipper Ashwin at mid-on. Ashwin who had judged the ball well decided to take a one-handed catch and he almost got his man. But, he failed to collect the ball as it popped out of his hands and in the end, he was deprived of what would have arguably been the best catch of this tournament.

The video of Ashwin attempting this stunning catch was posted on Twitter. Watch it here.

Kings XI Punjab now find themselves in a spot of bother after having lost with just 10 points in 12 games after their loss against the 2016 winners. Ashwin won the toss and asked SRH to bat first. Openers David Warner and Wriddhiman Saha added 78 runs for the opening partnership. Warner who was playing his final IPL game of this season played a match-winning knock of a 56-ball 81 which took Hyderabad to a huge total of 212/6 in their 20 overs.

In reply, Kings XI Punjab could only manage to get to 167/8 in their 20 overs. KL Rahul was the top-scorer with his quickfire knock of a 56-ball 79.
