Chris Gayle is one of the best entertainers in World Cricket. He always entertains his fans both on and off the field. The hard-hitting West Indian batsman never leaves any stone unturned when it comes to entertaining the people and he did so on Monday during Kings XI Punjab's clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.
While he was fielding during the first innings, the two-time World T20 winner charged at the Spider Cam and chased it away. While doing so, he made some funny expressions as well which enthralled one and all. However, this was the only time during the night where the 'Universe Boss' had fun before he found himself at the receiving end.
The incident happened in the 18th over of SRH's innings which was bowled by young mystery spinner Mujeeb Ur Rahman and SRH skipper Kane Williamson was on strike. On the very first delivery, Williamson decided to take the young Afghan spinner to the cleaners but the ball was not timed well as it landed between two fielders. Gayle chased the ball and when it looked like the Jamaican all-rounder would cut it off easily, he ended up kicking the ball accidentally into the boundary.
The video of Gayle's hilarious own goal at the boundary was posted on Twitter. Watch it here.
The Caribbean power-hitter also failed with the bat as he could manage to score only four runs from three deliveries which included a single boundary. Only KL Rahul made an impression with the bat as he scored a 56-ball 79 during Punjab's huge run chase of 213. Rahul's quickfire knock helped KXIP reach 167/8 in their 20 overs.
Earlier, Kings XI Punjab skipper Ravichandran Ashwin won the toss and asked SRH to bat first. Openers David Warner and Wriddhiman Saha added 78 runs for the opening partnership. Warner who was playing his final IPL game of this season played a match-winning knock of a 56-ball 81 which took Hyderabad to a huge total of 212/6 in their 20 overs.
