Ravindra Jadeja stole the show on day two of the first test match against West Indies after scoring his maiden test century, and later was among the wickets as India reduced West Indies to 94 for six in 29 overs when stumps were drawn for the day.

It took 37 Tests and 55 innings, for the Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja to finally score his maiden ton in his 38th Test match. The Indian all-rounder marked this feat by unleashing his trademark sword celebration as India declared the first innings for first innings at 649/9.

Ravindra Jadeja's highest test score was 90 runs against England at the Oval, but he could never cross the hurdle in the previous 37 Test matches he has featured in. Speaking about how he overcame his nerves of crossing the 90-run mark to reach the milestone, he said:

"It is very special because in the past I had gotten to 80s and 90s but was not able to convert. Today, I was not worried, just did not want to play any loose shot. I kept talking to Umesh and Shami and told myself that I needed to play till I score 100."

To make the occasion sweeter, Ravindra Jadeja managed this feat in front of his home crowd in Rajkot, who acknowledged the batsman's whirlwind effort of five sixes and as many fours with a raucous applause. Even his teammates were on their feet cheering with huge smiles on their faces, as the camera panned towards the Indian dressing room.

The script couldn't have been any better for the southpaw, as an emotional Ravindra Jadeja went on to dedicate his 'special innings' to his late mother, who always wanted him to play for India.

''I would like to dedicate this century to my mother. Though, she's not with us anymore, but she wanted to see me play for India one day and since this is a special moment for me, I would like to dedicate this 100 to her,'' Jadeja said.

In what will be a match to remember for a long time, Ravindra Jadeja had earlier pulled off one of the most comical run-out dismissals in recent times. The incident happened in Ravichandran Ashwin's over, when a mixup between the two batsmen Hetmyer and Sunil Ambri, saw them both ending up on the same side of the pitch. Seeing both the batsmen on the same end, Jadeja decided to walk up to the stumps, instead of throwing the ball directly.

Hetmyer decided to quickly run across to the bowler's end, looking at this Ravindra Jadeja was quick to react as he instantly threw the ball at the stumps, but survived a scare as it narrowly clipped the bails.

After watching Jadeja's theatrics, the manner of the dismissal didn't seem to go down well with Virat Kohli. The Indian skipper could be seen having a brief moment with the all-rounder for his antics, which also left the bowler Ravichandra Ashwin stunned.
