Defending champions and three-time winners Chennai Super Kings will look to register a hat-trick of wins and continue their winning momentum against Rajasthan Royals at the MA Chidambaram stadium on Sunday. Meanwhile, Royals will be looking to register their first win of this year's campaign and snap their winless streak.

Royals captain Ajinkya Rahane won the toss and put CSK into bat first. Chennai started on a poor note as they lost their top order early and were reeling at 27/3. Skipper MS Dhoni and Suresh Raina then kept CSK's scoreboard ticking by stitching in a 61 run stand for the fourth wicket before Raina was castled by Jaydev Unadkat for 36.

However, the stand out feature of the CSK innings was when lady luck smiled on MS Dhoni which prevented him from getting bowled. The incident happened in the sixth over when the 2011 World Cup winning captain had come into bat and just faced one ball. Jofra Archer bowled a slow ball which Dhoni played with a straight bat. However, it took the inside edge of the bat then hit his thigh pads before it went on to hit the stumps. But to everyone's utter dismay the bails did not fall which meant that Dhoni got another chance. The Rajasthani players who were about to erupt in celebrations were suddenly amazed after seeing what had happened. Ben Stokes, Steve Smith, skipper Ajinkya Rahane and the bower himself Jofra Archer were seen giving a stunned look. While the 'Thalaiva' stood there as cool as a cucumber.

The CSK skipper scored a gritty unbeaten 46-ball 75 at a strike rate of 163.04 which included four boundaries and four maximums. He also added 56 runs for the fifth wicket with West Indian sensation Dwayne Bravo who also played a cameo of a 16-ball 27. Mahi clobbered Jaydev Unadkat for three sixes in the final over of the innings which took CSK to a fighting total of 175/5 in their 20 overs.
