It is every cricketer's biggest dream to represent their country in the World Cup. Vijay Shankar realized his dream when his name was announced in the 15-member World Cup squad at the BCCI headquarters in Mumbai on Monday. Shankar has been roped in as an all-rounder. According to the chairman of selection committee M.S.K. Prasad he might also be looked at as India's No.4 batsman in the showpiece event.

The 28-year-old all-rounder from Tamil Nadu was very happy after his name was announced in the 15-member squad of the showpiece event. He took to Twitter to share his excitement about playing in the quadrennial event for the very first time.

His IPL team Sunrisers Hyderabad shared the video on Twitter.

''It feels really good to be a part of the World Cup squad and this is my first call in the World Cup team . Obviously it is very special to any cricketer and it is very very special for me as well so I am looking forward to be a part of the group'', said Shankar.

Even the netizens expressed their happiness and had words of motivation for Vijay Shankar.

It is indeed a dream come true for Vijay Shankar who made his ODI debut earlier this year. He was named as Hardik Pandya's replacement for the ODI series in Australia as the latter was banned for his controversial remarks on a chat show.

Shankar also played in the New Zealand series which succeeded the Australian series. However, he grabbed the spotlight during India's home series against Australia last month where he scored a crucial 46 with the bat and took up two wickets of a well set Marcus Stoinis and Adam Zampa in the penultimate over to help India register a famous win.
