South African all-rounder Chris Morris will be joining Delhi Capitals squad ahead of their second encounter against Chennai Super Kings on Tuesday. The 31-year old was one of the players to be retained by the Delhi franchise. Morris has been associated with Delhi since 2016 where he had hammered a 32-ball 82 against the now defunct Gujarat Lions which included fours fours and eight sixes. He landed in Delhi and was on his way to join his team-mates. He was feeling tired after a long flight but at the same time was excited to get going.
His team Delhi Capitals took to Twitter to welcome the star all-rounder.
Morris could not feature in Delhi's opening encounter against Mumbai Indians on Sunday as South Africa were hosting Sri Lanka in a bilateral series of which he was a part of. He picked up three wickets in the 3rd T20I as South Africa went on to whitewash Sri Lanka 3-0. He played for Delhi in four matches last season where he scored 46 runs and picked up three wickets. His tournament was cut short due to a back injury. Morris will now be seen in new colours with a new Delhi franchise and he will be hoping to put last seaon's disappointment behind him.
"It is very good to be back in Delhi as it is my home away from home. I have spent a lot of my time and career in Delhi so it feels go to be back", said Morris.
He also said that he was excited to be a part of the new squad and was also excited about meeting new players and he also hoped about putting up a good performance this season. Morris also added that he liked the name of his team Delhi Capitals as he plays for Pretoria Capitals in the South African Super League.
