Mumbai Indians snatched victory in the last ball of the game against Kings XI Punjab by three wickets at the Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday. By the virtue of this win, they also avenged their reverse fixture loss against the 2014 finalists. The game was nothing short of a roller-coaster ride. There were a lot of entertaining moment in the match in both the innings.
However, it was Kieron Pollard who stole the spotlight with his match-winning innings when the three-time champions looked down and out of the game. Pollard was the stand-in captain of Mumbai Indians as Rohit Sharma could not feature in the contest due to a hamstring injury. The West Indian all-rounder ensured that the additional responsibility of captaincy did not hamper his game in any way as he played an explosive innings of a 31-ball 83 at a strike rate of 267.74 which included three boundaries and 10 maximums.
Pollard was adjudged as the 'Man of the Match' for his gritty knock. Post the contest, Pollard was seen hugging and kissing his son Kaiden before sharing the mic with him. The swashbuckling batsman then said that his little son had come all the way from the Caribbean to support him. He then asked his boy about his innings and Kaiden congratulated his 'Papa' for his splendid knock after which he said, 'Happy Birthday Mommy' . The stylish Trinidadian batsman then went on to shower birthday wishes to his wife Jenna Ali and at the same time, also dedicated his knock to her.

Earlier KL Rahul and Chris Gayle put on an outstanding batting performance. Both entertained the Wankhede crowd with their blockbuster batting as the Mumbai bowlers were taken to the cleaners at regular intervals. The duo added 116 runs for the opening partnership. Rahul soldiered on post Gayle's dismissal as Punjab lost wickets at the other end. He scored his maiden IPL century. He scored an unbeaten 64-ball 100 at a strike rate of 156.25 which helped Punjab reach a competitive total of 197/4 in their 20 overs.
