The 2019 edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) is still weeks away, but it seems, action off-the-field has already begun.
As part of the build-up to the tournament, Star Sports is coming up with a series of advertisements, and a number of them feature the Indian players, who are presently teammates, but will soon be on the opposite end of each other.
In the latest advertisement, Mumbai Indians' (MI) Jasprit Bumrah can be seen having a go at his national team skipper and Royal Challengers Bangalore's (RCB) Virat Kohli.
Billed as the No.1 bowler vs the No.1 batsman, the advertisement shows Bumrah fire a salvo at Kohli and calling him as 'cheeku bhaiya'.
"World ka best bowler, nahi yaar. Abhi toh, world ke best batsman ke dande udaana baki hai...Aa raha hu Cheeku Bhaiya, aur is baar, aap meri team mein bhi nahin rahenge," says Bumrah in the video.
A similar advertisement was released by Star Sports, featuring Delhi Capitals' (DC) Rishabh Pant and Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) MS Dhoni.
In that, Pant can be seen calling Dhoni as his guru before stating that he is ready to unleash his talent and skills in front of his guru's team.
"Mahi bhai na guru ke samaan hai. Agar Mahi bhai nahi hote na, pata nahin main wicket-keeper-batsman hota, nahin hota...Lekin, is baari unki team pe main aisa barsoonga ki captain cool, cool nahi rahenge. Mahi bhai, taiyaar rehna, game dikhane aa raha hoon," Pant said in the video.
The 12the edition of IPL will begin on March 23, and earlier start than other years due to the elections in the country. The schedule for the first two weeks has been announced, with holders CSK to take on RCB in the first match.
