New Zealand will be looking to consolidate their semifinal spot as they lock horns against reigning World Champions Australia during their ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 clash at Lord's on Saturday. Meanwhile, the Aussies would be hoping to repeat their 2015 World Cup final heroics by registering yet another win under their belt as they aim to finish on top of the points table after becoming the first team to qualify for the semis. The five-time winners are currently at the summit of the table with six wins from seven matches and 12 points while the Kiwis are at the third position with five victories in their 11 games and 11 points in their tally.
Coming back to the Trans-Tasman rivalry, Australian skipper Aaron Finch won the toss and decided to bat first. It did not turn out to be a good decision as the defending champions lost their top three batsmen very early. Finch, David Warner and Steve Smith did not have a good day with the bat as Australia were reduced to 46/3. However, the standout moment was that of Martin Guptill taking a magnificent catch at square leg to get rid off Steve Smith.
It happened in the 12th over of the first innings which was bowled by Lockie Ferguson. On the second delivery, the speedster bowled a short ball as Smith heaved it with full force. Unfortunately, he did not get the desired result as Martin Guptill out off nowhere took a blinder of a catch. He made a difficult catch look easy. Guptill who was stationed at backward square leg had to dive towards his left and held on to the catch with one hand.
The video of Martin Guptill's blinder of a catch was posted by ICC.
Cricket World Cup took to Twitter and asked the fans whether Guptill's excellent catch was the best catch of this tournament?
There was a mixed reaction from the fans. Some agreed that indeed it was the best catch.
While there were others who were not on the same page.
