Dhoni announced his retirement from international cricket on August 15, 2020, on the day India celebrated its 74th Independence Day. 

Renowned as a prolific wicketkeeper-batsman, Dhoni has achieved significant accolades throughout his illustrious career, including two World Cups and a Champions Trophy. Dhoni is considered one of the best captains to have ever graced the game. Under his leadership, Indian cricket achieved great heights, becoming champions in all three formats. Dhoni has played more than 500 games for India across formats and has scored over 17,000 runs.
