It is a dream for every bowler to pick up a wicket on their debut. And the first ODI between India and West Indies played at the Barsapara Cricket Ground in Guwahati, was one such day for Oshane Thomas.

The young West Indies bowler couldn't have asked for a better way to announce his arrival by picking up his maiden international wicket. To make it sweeter, it was the prized scalp of the Indian opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan, who departed scoring only 4 runs.

But what followed after that was rather funny. After drawing first blood for the West Indies as early as in the second over, Oshane Thomas seemed to have gotten little too excited as he celebrated the dismissal with wicket-keeper Shai Hope.

The 21-year-old unable to keep a lid on his emotions, went on to slap wicket-keeper Shai Hope, in an attempt to give him a high-five. Oshane Thomas later apologized to his team-mate for the incident. Here's the video of the incident:

Post that early setback, Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma took control of things, in reply to West Indies's challenging total of 322 runs. While the Indian skipper took the responsibility of scoring upon himself, Rohit complemented Kohli by playing as the anchor-man.

But Rohit did not hold back, and after reaching his half-century, let loose. The duo reached their respective centuries in no time, and in the process stitched a massive 246-runs partnership. Despite Kohli's dismissal in the 33rd over, India romped to a win, with Rohit remaining unbeaten at 152.

Making a mockery of what looked like a stiff target, the Men in Blue cantered to the win with 7.5 overs to spare, taking a 1-0 lead in the five-match series.

Also during the course of his innings, the Indian skipper achieved a landmark and equaled a feat held by his mentor Sachin Tendulkar. For the third consecutive year, Kohli reached the 2000-run mark in international cricket, joining an elite list. He was also awarded the man of the match award for his blitzkrieg innings.
