Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed took a blinder of a catch to get rid of New Zealand's Ross Taylor off Shaheen Afridi's fiery delivery, making all eyes turn towards him. Sarfaraz dove to his side to clinch a one-handed catch in the last ball of the eighth over, putting New Zealand in all sorts of trouble.

He hit the winning runs of the match, as he finished off the innings with a boundary, as Pakistan chased down the 238 run target with five balls to spare.

Sarfaraz Ahmed, who was subjected to a lot of criticism prior to the last two games, has silenced the critics after helping Pakistan win two consecutive games that saw their World Cup campaign revive, after a humiliating loss at the hands of India on June 16. Caught amid internal feud with Pakistan Cricket Board and Chief Selector Inzamam-ul-Haq, Sarfaraz maintained his cool throughout to snap out of the losing streak. 

The Pakistan skipper was swarmed by fans at Edgbaston, Birmingham after Pakistan's victory, as many congratulated him for his brilliant catch and of course, Pakistan's victory.

Other users too, were quick to point out that the similarities between the two World Cup campaigns and expressed their belief that skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed will guide Pakistan to lift the World Cup just like how Imran Khan did. Read some of the reactions here: 

Sarfaraz Ahmed and members of the Pakistan cricket team were severely criticized for their fitness, attitude and lack of focus after their loss against India, with former cricketer Shoaib Akhtar calling the skipper "brainless" and Sachin Tendulkar saying that Sarfaraz Ahmed lacked "imagination". Pakistan's consecutive victory seems to have silenced the critics as they look forward to sealing their spot in the semi-finals as they play against Afghanistan next on 29 June at Headingley, Leeds.
