Azhar Ali and bizarre dismissals are two things that seem to go together, if the current trend is anything to go by. Not long ago, the Pakistani batsman was involved in one of the most bizarre runouts the world has ever seen during the Test series against Australia, but it seems like Azhar Ali might have not really learned from his mistakes.

It was a shocking dismissal, given something of such sorts has barely ever been witnessed in the sport's history. After guiding a Peter Siddle's ball to third man, Azhar thought the ball went for a four. Both Azhar and his partner Asad Shafiq stood midway on the pitch, without realizing that the ball had stopped just before touching the boundary ropes.

Mitchell Starc, who was the fielder chasing the ball, realized the batsmen were out of their crease, and quickly threw the ball to wicketkeeper and captain Tim Paine, who in turn whipped off the bails in no time.

While being a good batsman requires an individual to maintain great coordination with your partner at the other but. But this seems to be an area where Azhar Ali might be slacking in, after he repeated the same mistake during the on-going second Test match against New Zealand, where he was dismissed cheaply.

The incident took place in the 71st over of the match when Ali was batting at 81 and was ever close to reaching to his century. But a lapse in concentration while facing left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel cost him dearly.

The Pakistani batsman drove Ajaz Patel's delivery through mid-off before jolting for a single without signaling his partner at the other end. Haris Sohail, at the non-strikers' end, failed to respond in time, which forced Azhar Ali to run back to his crease. But it was too late after fielder Tim Southee collected the ball and threw towards wicket-keeper BJ Watling, who clipped off the bails to end Ali's innings,

Earlier in the game, Pakistan won the toss and decided to bat first. However, the hosts got off to a bad start after their openers Imam-ul-Haq and Mohammad Hafeez were both dismissed for nine runs each. Though, in the context of the game, Ali's knock of 81 runs proved to a crucial one along with Sohail who helped rescue Pakistan after an early stutter.
